The film follows a group of young people who meet in an apartment at Hermannplatz, opposite the historic Karstadt department store. They plan and discuss; yet it remains unclear what exactly is being planned. A revolutionary atmosphere prevails — change is in the air. Radical de-escalation, early recognition of danger, and conflict avoidance are central aspects of all self-defense systems. But how can these methods be applied when the threat is not a person, but something invisible — a spirit, a system?

The work reimagines Jean-Paul Sartre’s Les jeux sont faits in a contemporary context.
The characters exist in a limbo — between life and death, between day and night — where only the lovers are granted a return to the world of the living. Love becomes a means of resistance when one is paralyzed, unable to act.

Karstadt, under the direction of the right-wing multi-billionaire investor René Benko, is soon to be transformed into a luxury complex with upscale offices, apartments, and shops. This marks a sharp rupture in the urban fabric of Berlin-Neukölln and leads to massive displacement. Overcoming shock paralysis — staying capable of action in moments of stress.

The American crayfish, which has become a plague in Berlin in recent years, leaves the water when overpopulated and travels long distances over land in search of new habitats. It threatens endangered local species while at the same time being considered a sustainable gourmet delicacy.
